Locusts & Skeeters, Songs & Hummers
Them cicadas & locusts are gettin' louder, darkness knockin' a bit earlier. Chilluns are back in school, the hornets are gettin' nervous. Yeah, I know, autumn is breathtaking n' all, but 'ol man winter hangs around for so long. For such an old SOB, he sure can stay up late.
Here in the Illinois regions, it's been one hot & wet summer, mosquito heavy! But I shall miss her...though she aint gone yet- still some good squeezins left, so wring away!
What songs will remind you of summer 2010? The National's "Blood Buzz Ohio"? New Pornographers "Crash Years"? "Laredo" from Band Of Horses? Edward Sharp's "Home"? Those will ring my summer bell.
Not a lotta playin' out this summer for moi, but we is gettin' back at it, settin' up some fall dates and beyond. And VERY excited to do so. Hope to see you out there.
Saw an excellent sign o' the times yesterday- driving through town I spied a Hummer with a Dominoes Pizza delivery sign stuck on the top. Oh, sweet justice.
