COMMON SENSE BREEDS BOREDOM

once i was tryin' to sleep in the yard of a church in some tiny town somewheres in texas. middle of the night and i was all "bundled up" considerin' it was 90 some-odd degrees and HUmid. had a sweatshirt on wearin' the hood which was pulled tight round my face...why?...'cause there were %^*&#!! mosquitoes by the thousands and you just couldn't get away from 'em. earlier in the night we was tryin' to sleep in a field but woke up bolt-upright with a start 'cause you had the feelin' that somethin' was standin' REAL nearby, but it was mighty dark. stood up and a MESS o' horses galloped off -which scared the hell outta us 'cause, y'know, who wants t' be trampled by large animals whilst slumberin'. so we stumbled outta there, back out onto the road, but when you've hitchhiked/walked for a few days in that heat you get a tad exhausted (the next day some ol' boy givin' us a lift mentioned that horses won't stomp you but cows will -believe it!) anyway thats how we ended up in that unmercifully scratchy church yard. oh back in the day when adventure was at least always a possibility, when you didn't know -or prob'ly care- what the hell you'd be doin' in a few months. when you was dumber and reckless. yeah, common sense breeds boredom, but at least we be here to be bored. i relate this why? 'cause the other day i was standin' behind a survey instrument in a cornfield in sub-freezin' weather with the wind a' blowin horizONtal and i was tryin' t' think of a time when i was real hot. REALLY bakin'. and thats when the church yard drifted outta somewheres...yeah i stand behind that instrument when i get sick of tryin' t' make any money with that music...i'm not bitter but new shoes and insurance and GOOD bourbon are tempting sometimes...but what i'm really sayin' is thanks so much for droppin' by, for listenin' to that music and for still shootin' the occasional message that you ARE listenin' and for youse who've recently tapped in and for askin' "hey what the hell are you up to?!" well, i'm a' gonna put out some new music, play some gigs...i mean i'm still payin' for this site, right? you never stop playin', you take breaks...'course i HAVE and still AM playin' with those dick smith fellers. and ho-chi-minh i am lovin' playin' this new old guitar i got...57 years young it is and it is hittin' prime! a joy.

not much else right now...those who've followed my journey (since last new years) of listenin' to my whole cd collection alphabetically and who occassionally ask me 'bout progress- well, lessee...sadly, i won't be a' makin' it by years end, as hoped, though i intend to forge on certainly. had a rough few months 'round the summer where all was topsy AND turvy and i was tossed off track...undaunted i resume... passing through the "S" region currently- the last couple days i listened to 4 sixteen horsepower cds which was quite somethin' on the 'ol head, in a good way i think. if you're familiar you know- their songs are like you're in the woods and somethin' is behind you, or it FEELS like somethin' is. and i'm not talkin' about a mess o' people-stompin' cows...

yeah THANKS again for the support this past year -good luck to ya NEXT year. Christopher Reeve said "we all have more abilities and internal resources than we know. my advice is that you don't need to break your neck to find out about them."
indeedy-do.

hey- put on some good music- it DOES stuff...

see ya
